Guided by Nature, Backed by Experience
Tours accommodate both beginners and experienced kayakers and are led by ACA certified guides. Guide to kayaker ratio is 1:8; minimum age is 16 years, unless accompanied by a parent/guardian. On average, we paddle 15 km per day. Our tours are noted for their flexibility; additional paddling and skills classes are readily available. There is free time away from the group during the afternoon siesta and in the evenings. Some tours offer flexible meal plans. Alone or as part of the group, you can enjoy simple island villages and beautiful hiking trails, jump off cliffs into the sea, explore hidden coves, or relax with a good book.

BEFORE YOU GO
What to pack
- Daily paddling gear during the summer months is a swimsuit, Teva-style sandals, sunglasses, a rashguard/dry wick top (lightweight neoprene in April and October) and sun protection. A lightweight polypropylene or fleece layer should be included on early spring and late fall tours. A re-fillable water bottle is recommended as plastic is not recycled on the islands; tap water is drinkable everywhere. Guesthouses provide linens and towels (but not beach towels); a beach towel is suggested for swimming and beach time.
For Evenings
Attire is generally casual. Pack shorts, lightweight pants, T-shirt, skirt, sundress, sandals, and a sweater or light jacket in spring and fall. Breathable fabrics, like cotton and linen, are recommended during the hottest months of July and August.Montenegro
The climate and sea temperature on the Bay of Kotor are the same as Croatia's coast and islands. The Tara River Canyon has an inland alpine climate. Pack warm clothing for overnight stays on Best of Balkans and Montenegro Getaway tours: a fleece or spring/fall jacket, close-toed shoes and socks, and long pants. The river water is cold. Wetsuits are provided for rafting.Campers - Paddle Dalmatia Tour

Things to know
No previous kayaking experience is necessary. Tours begin with introductory lessons on equipment, safety, kayak entry and fit on the beach. Basic paddling technique and capsize & recovery are covered in shallow, protected water. Beginners can learn adequate skills quickly to thoroughly enjoy sea kayaking from day 1; small group size allows guides to work with clients individually; and the Adriatic Sea is warm and usually calm during the 6 month season. Advanced skill classes, for example rolling, are optional and scheduled according to client wishes. Additional learning such as local weather, sea conditions, navigation, and more advanced paddling skills develop naturally as the tour progresses.
Backpacks and suitcases are transported to the island by ferry and stored in your guesthouse or hotel room during your tour. AKT provides dry bags for your daily belongings (clothes, towel, camera, wallet) for dry storage in the kayak's bulkhead.*
*Please note: Kayakers on the Paddle Dalmatia Tour must pack and carry their personal belongings and camping equipment in their kayak's bulkheads; dry bags are provided by AKT.
All tours are led in English. Our guides are locals who are happy to share Croatian language, culture and history along the way.
