This Croatia sea kayaking experience unfolds against a backdrop of Renaissance Dalmatian architecture and centuries of maritime heritage shaped by the fishing, trading and diplomatic legacy of the Dubrovnik Republic — a seafaring power built on skill, intellect and the open sea.
From the gentle rhythm of the Mediterranean, the journey turns wild and dramatic in Montenegro, where packrafting the emerald waters of the Tara River leads you through Europe's deepest canyon. Here, sheer cliffs and pristine wilderness echo with stories of Montenegro's proud warrior past, a land defined by resilience, freedom and survival. Itinerary
Day 1: Transit day
Arrive in Dubrovnik by 2:30 pm / car transfer to Prapratno for the 5 pm ferry to Mljet Island / 20 minute scenic drive on Mljet to the seaside village of Kozarica / check into the guesthouse / home-cooked dinner on a private terrace overlooking the sea.Day 2: Kozarica – Polače
Equipment issue and instruction in Kozarica harbour / paddle Kozarica to Polače, a favoured mooring for yachts and sailboats / stop to swim on one of several small islands / wander Polače's waterfront / car transfer to Kozarica for a home-cooked dinner.Day 3: Multi-sport — explore Mljet by foot or bike
Car transfer to Polače / paddle the northeast tip of Mljet with views of Korčula and Lastovo Islands, to Pomena, the national park headquarters. Afternoon options include bike rental or hiking in the park / car transfer to Kozarica.Day 4: Sea kayaking the national park
Paddle the northeast tip of the island along towering limestone cliffs / discover the narrow break in the cliff walls connecting the inland lakes to the open sea / paddle past the iconic island home of a 12th century Benedictine monastery / car transfer to Kozarica for dinner.Day 5: Relax day
Explore Mljet's natural wonders outside the national park / hike to swim in Odysseus Cave / drive the length of the island to the sand beaches of Saplunara.Day 6: Travel day — Croatia to Montenegro
Mljet to Dubrovnik / transfer to Camp Grab, driving through Bosnia and Herzegovina en route to Black Lake in Žabljak. We stop for lunch — mountain cuisine — and continue 15 minutes to Žabljak / an hour-long walk around Black Lake / a further two hours to the Tara Canyon to settle into our cabins and enjoy dinner by the river.Day 7: Meet the Tara — Šljivansko to Radovan Luka
Traditional breakfast by the river and gear issue. Transport from the GRAB ethno village and camp to Šljivansko, the packrafting start / packraft to Radovan Luka, the most beautiful part of Durmitor National Park and the Tara / stops at resting places with great filming opportunities, followed by a light lunch / arrive at Radovan Luka / overnight in a motel or tents / dinner.Day 8: Adrenaline rush — Radovan Luka to Grab
Breakfast, then paddling from Radovan Luka to the GRAB ethno village and camp. Stops at places suitable for rest and filming, followed by a light lunch / continue paddling and arrive at the GRAB ethno village in the evening / dinner by the campfire / overnight in cabins.Day 9: Farewell Montenegro
Breakfast by the river. The plan is to leave camp by 10 am and arrive in Dubrovnik in the late afternoon. Unless you are flying out or continuing your travels the same day, you will need to arrange your own overnight accommodation.
